Mix n’ MashWant a dance party? No matter if it’s for a birthday, wedding reception, or just for the heck of it, I can deliver.
I started tinkering around with web sites when I was about 10 years old using Invision Power and PHPBB forum software to begin my trek into the web world. Back then WordPress wasn’t really thought of as the great content management system it is today, so a friend and I used Coranto to create a fun gaming site, Gaming Vortex. It was understanding HTML and CSS that came so easily. I jumped right into it and really just fixed things up through trial and error. I had so much fun too and the more I used Coranto, the more I explored PHP and its functionality with our site. Being Self-taught, I knew I had a knack for web design, which went from being a hobby to building sites for people at a very affordable price. You can check out my work experience and examples under the portfolio portion of my site. Now I am well learned in HTML and CSS3, high understanding of PHP, although I am not a PHP developer, and good skills with Photoshop.
It all began in college when my friends and I were planning a wicked 21st birthday for one of my best friends. It had to be awesome, of course, so I opted to head up the music. We were thinking a Rave party (blacklights and glow sticks included), just for kicks. While in college, I had accumulated a lot of different music types and tastes, and for this b-day bash I figured I’d start selecting a good chunk of songs that I knew everyone would like and dance to. At first, I figured I’d use the new iTunes DJ feature that had just come out, but then as I was listening to different types of music from Basshunter to Darude and the ever-popular Zombie Nation tune by Kernkraft 400, I was thinking, “Man, I need to organize these tunes so they overlap and transition into each other. Would be sweet!” I had been to a club the night before and got that idea when I listened to the DJ transition into new tracks; then before you knew it he was playing a massive hit that had everyone pushing to the dance floor. I wanted that. At the time all I had was good ‘ol Garageband on my MacBook Pro and knew nothing about DJ software or even how to be a DJ. I literally just positioned tracks over eachother in Garageband, trimmed, ducking, etc. and was on my way through a pretty sick line-up. My friends had no idea the lengths I was going to to get this done, but really I spent about six hours the week before setting all this up, wasn’t that bad.
I believe I surprised a lot of people because the turn out was HUGE. Everyone was raving and going absolutely bonkers. Actually, we were using a home stereo and by the end of the night the auxiliary melted down. Oops. I had so many comments and the like saying that I should DJ and that I had a good ear for music, etc. So really, I loved working with music anyway and was encouraged into the DJ realm where now I am using Ableton and Traktor (sorry, Garageband, you aren’t missed) to create my sets for more house parties and eventually local clubs. I enjoy spreading my musical passion to everyone and hopefully plan to introduce club and dubstep music in Tuscaloosa, Alabama where I went to university (too many Hip Hop clubs here). Still trying to think of a cool DJ name, so if anyone has any suggestions keep ‘em coming!

I have been into music since I could hear my dad playing the Beatles and other 70s when I was 3. With this radio show I am wanting to inform my university campus at UAB of the EDM (Electronic Dance Music) scene.
